Gegege no Kitaro: Being a Ghost is Pretty Cool

This was the only photo I really needed after this year's NorCal Spring Gathering in San Jose, CA. I really love the original Gegege no Kitaro series, and it was surprising to find people that knew of this character.

About the costume:
The shorts and shirt are made from standard cotton, and the patterns were slightly altered to give everything a worn-in appearance. The vest was altered from a T-shirt pattern, and the stripes are black velvet and the wrong side of some gold interior satin. As I'm preparing to move overseas for a year, the vest, along with many other cosplay and fashion pieces, will be up for sale soon. Medama Oyaji is made from air-dry clay, painted, and attached to a hair clip. He hides in my wig, what a mooch...
